Spring is finally here and Wellington Place is the perfect place to make the most of the new season.

From art festivals to darts tournaments, summer markets to sustainable living, here’s a look at what’s in store for the next few months.

April

Easter Charity prize draw

The spring season kicks off with an Easter prize draw for local charity Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, who are collecting goods for their wellbeing trolley. Donate an item for the trolley; healthy snacks, hand creams and face masks, kids activity books and card games. When you drop off your donation you will be entered into a prize draw to win a Hotel Chocolat Easter Egg plus a £25 voucher for Bean Coffee Roasters. Drop off your donations at Wellington Central, 6 Wellington Place from 9am to 5pm on weekdays between Wednesday 9th April and Wednesday 16th April. The prize draw takes place on Thursday 17th April.

CANVAS Community Arts Festival

Thursday 10th April to Tuesday 6th May

A brand new community arts festival is coming to Wellington Place from. Presented in partnership with Leeds Arts University, CANVAS is a celebration of all things art. There’ll be an exhibition of student artwork, your chance to contribute to a massive collaborative artwork and an arts trail, alongside craft workshops. It’s a great way to keep the kids busy during the Easter holidays, while getting them into the world of art!  For more information click here.

Charity darts tournament

Tuesday 29th April

Grab your teammates and enter Mad Frans darts tournament. The event is open to all, and you can enter with a team of colleagues or friends, It’s a great chance to socialise, show off your darts skills and raise money for a charity of your choice, with the winning team landing a £100 donation for their good cause. Whether you’re the next Luke Littler or it’s your first time stepping up to the oche, it’s sure to be a fantastic evening.

Railway History Walk

Thursday 8th May

There’s plenty of outdoor fun to be had with the arrival of May. You can learn all about Wellington Place’s industrial past on a Railway History Walk, led by local historian Clifford Stead. Available for members of the Wellington Place community only, this after-work event will be equal parts entertaining and informative. You can even join Clifford for a drink afterwards to unearth more gems!

Beekeeping

Tuesday 20th and Thursday 22nd May

Ever wanted to learn how to tend to bees? They’re one of the most important parts of our ecosystem, after all! We’re hosting a series of beekeeping workshops to celebrate World Bee Day, where you can find out more about these fascinating insects, their behaviour and how to protect them. Available to members of the Wellington Place community only, the sessions will be taking place on

Summer in the Square markets

Thursday 29th May and Thursday 26th June 12pm to 2pm

May also sees the return of our popular Summer in the Square markets. Taking place the last Thursday of the month from May onwards, the markets will include tasty street food traders, stalls from local indie makers and drop-in craft workshops. There’ll also be live music, so step away from your desk and head over to Tower Square for a lovely al fresco lunch break.

 

June

The Big Green Get Together

Tuesday 10th June 12pm to 2pm

June brings a focus on all things green to coincide with Big Green Week. The Big Green Get Together will take place from 12pm to 2pm on Tuesday 10th June in Tower Square. Head on down to the square for bike maintenance workshops, stalls from local sustainable businesses and public transport providers, as well as a repair fair where you can take your faulty clothes, jewellery, appliances, electronics and computers, and their expert fixers will have a go at bringing them back to life.

National Bike Week

Thursday 12th June

It’s also National Bike Week, and on Thursday 12th June, members of the Wellington Place community are invited to take part in a guided bike ride. Hosted in partnership with a local cycling group, we’ll set out on an hour-long social ride around the local area. It’s a great chance to learn more about the bike facilities we have here on-site, while getting active and meeting like-minded cyclists.

LeedsBID Summer Roadshow

Tuesday 17th to Thursday 19th June

More exciting news – the LeedsBID Summer Roadshow is back at Wellington Place from Tuesday 17th to Thursday 19th June. Always a highlight of the summer season, there’ll be garden games, live music and art workshops coming to Tower Square, plenty of deckchairs to relax in and free ice cream to snaffle if you’re lucky! Round up your colleagues and make a beeline to Tower Square for plenty of Vitamin D-infused fun.

Spring Favourites

There are also plenty of recurring events throughout the spring months, giving you lots of chances to make friends and feel good. On Wednesdays, there’s morning yoga and two pilates sessions, while Thursday’s lunchtime run club is always a popular affair. Or how about joining a choir? Hosted by So Choir!, these social events are super-friendly and relaxed – perfect for singers of all levels and abilities and open to all.
