Interview with Connor Mann, Assistant Building Manager at CBRE, Wellington Place
Beginning his career at Wellington Place as a window cleaner back in 2013, after 7 years of further education, hard work and dedication, Connor is now the Assistant Building Manager at the development.
Tell us a little bit about what you do…
“I am the Assistant Building Manager at Wellington Place; it’s such a varied role! I have plenty of responsibilities and tasks to keep me busy throughout the week.
“I currently assist with the day-to-day running of the buildings here at the development, and the estate surrounding them.
“I run occupier meetings, help to keep all buildings compliant with H&S regulations, and also oversee the front of house services and systems. I support Wellington Place’s accreditations such as BREEAM, coordinate repair works, help with large fitout works, and even help with improvement plans and schemes.
“I’m now also part of 11 & 12 Wellington Place’s new development programme, as the idea is for me to take over management of the properties on handover.”
What’s your greatest achievement to date?
“Besides being a father to two wonderful children, my career journey at Wellington Place has been such an amazing achievement.
“I actually started working at Wellington Place in 2013 as a window cleaner! Back then, the development only had two buildings. After seeing and being a part of the experience as another seven properties were built, and watching a community form, I couldn’t wish to work anywhere else.
“In 2016, I applied for a job working in the security team and I got it. I knew that one way or another, I wanted to be a part of Wellington Place’s development. After being the Security Officer at 5 Wellington Place, I was then promoted to Deputy Security Manager.
“In 2019, CBRE approached me with an opportunity for further training to become a Front of House Coordinator. Fast forward to 2021 and I’ve now been promoted to Assistant Building Manager.
“I’ve been extremely lucky to be involved in many roles at the development; my current career prospect and ultimate aspiration is to take on the role of Manager of 11 & 12 Wellington Place!”
Tell us something interesting about yourself that others at Wellington Place may not know?
“Many people don’t know that I’m actually a Joiner by trade. My father is a Joiner and runs a very successful business, however, I wanted to prove to my parents that I could and would stand on my own two feet to make them proud.
“I’ve also travelled to many places with my work, such as Germany, Barcelona and Amsterdam. In addition, I’m very keen on home improvements and love to tackle renovations in my spare time!”
What is your favourite thing about working at Wellington Place and why?
“The best thing about Wellington Place is the community that comes with it. I get to see so many colleagues, customers, cleaning crew, estate maintenance team, engineers and security all the time. We’re like a huge work family!”
Which community events do you take part in at Wellington Place and why?
“I try to take part in as many community events as possible – I particularly enjoy the sustainability and wellbeing ones.”
