Things to do in Leeds this Winter

Winter is here, and there are plenty of ways to spend the chillier months at Wellington Place.

From cosy coffee dates to tasty feasts, street food markets to feel-good charity fund raising, there’s something for everyone, helping ease your way into 2025 with fun things to do in Leeds.

So brave the weather, wrap up warm and head to Wellington Place this winter. Here are our highlights…

   

Winter Regulars

There are plenty of ways to beat the blues thanks to a host of wellness activities. How about shaking off the cobwebs by joining the Wellington Pacers for a social run? Open to all abilities, they meet every Thursday at 12:15pm outside Wellington Central.

Singing is proven to boost mood and relieve stress, so why not release some feel good endorphins by joining the Wellington Place social choir? Open to everyone regardless of experience, it’s a lovely weekly activity and a great way to make friends.. Join them every Friday at 12:30pm.

Mad Frans monthly quiz night returns at 6pm the last Wednesday of every month, giving you the chance to cosy up with your pals and put your knowledge to the test. Land the top prize and you’ll win a £30 bar tab and a £50 donation to a charity of your choice.

February Events

In February, there’s a blood drive coming to Wellington Place. Taking place from 10am to 3pm on Tuesday February 18, you’ll be able to register to become a new blood donor, as well as finding out your likely blood type. You can even book in your first donor appointment, taking your first big step to donating blood.

When half-term rolls around, there’s an opportunity for the kids to take part in an interactive poetry writing workshop. Poetry & Play Adventure will be coming to Wellington Central on Saturday February 22, giving kids 8-13 the chance to flex their creative muscles and write their own poetry, using fun games and step by step instructions.

The Women of the Future event returns on Tuesday February 25, giving students from four schools in Leeds the chance to learn from aspirational women working at Wellington Place. If you’re looking to share your personal story, mentor young women or showcase life at Wellington Place, you can sign up to volunteer at the event, click to email for more information.

 

March Events

March offers plenty of ways to fundraise and give back. Join us on Thursday March 6 for an International Women’s Day feel-good market to raise funds for Leeds Women’s Aid. Explore a treasure trove of homemade gifts and boutique clothing from local, independent, female owned businesses, alongside creative workshops and a bake sale.

On Tuesday March 11, the recently founded Wellington Place History Club will take place in Wellington Central, providing a space for budding historians and anyone interested in learning about the heritage of our local area. Run by our engaging host Luke Russell, it’s a great way to spend your lunch break and an opportunity to meet new people.

Then on Wednesday March 12 and Thursday March 13, Woodrup Cycles will be hosting  pop-up bike maintenance sessions. Bring down your bike and you can get a full assessment as well as basic repairs like gear adjustment, tyre inflation, wheel truing, oiling and more. Interested? Head down to Tower Square at 11am on either day to book a slot.
