Our newest development, 11 & 12 Wellington Place, has been awarded the accolade of “Sustainable Development of the Year” in the 2022 Yorkshire Business Insider Property Industry Awards.
We were up against some stiff competition, so we were really pleased to have been recognised for our work on the development.
The judges praised our approach, which included the adoption of a fabric first principle, the elimination of fossil fuel use and the introduction of air source heat pumps.
To further boost performance, we also installed 7,500 sq ft of roof mounted solar panels – that’s the equivalent of 11 squash courts! – which means that the buildings will be both all-electric and net zero in operation.
All of these measures mean that 11 & 12 Wellington Place will target 41% less energy consumption when compared with a typical commercial office building.
The buildings are also the first in Yorkshire, and only the fourth in the UK, to receive a prestigious NABERS UK Design Reviewed Target Rating of Five Stars, meaning that they will act as a flagship for others to follow and set a new precedent for future-proofed, sustainable design.
A big thank you to our partners at Arup, Wates Group, tp bennett, Gardiner & Theobald and Mainer Associates for their work on this project. We couldn’t have done it without you!
